This journey can either be completed during daylight hours on the sprinter train (Train #40) departing at 09:00, or on one of the afternoon or early evening departures leaving before 21:00, or one of the late night departures leaving from Surat Thani after 23:00.

It takes a few hours to reach Surat Thani Train Station from either Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, and when you arrive at Surat Thani Train Station there is a very good outside restaurant near to the 7-Eleven on the main road. The other advantage of taking one of the departures after 23:00 is that the trains will arrive after 06:00 when it starts to get light and places will open to have breakfast whilst you wait to check in to a hotel.

Arrival in Hua Hin
The railway station in Hua Hin is fairly near the beach and the centre of the city.
