Covid-19 Update: 18 more long distance train services restart service on the 12th June 2020

10 June 2020: A total of 108 train services are about to restart on Thailand’s railway network, including 18 express train services on all major train lines in Thailand, including train services to the South of Thailand. Following on earlier suspension of all long distance train services a limited intercity service was resumed on the 18th May 2020 using only cooled trains travelling during the daytime. From the 12th June 2020 onward a limited number of air-conditioned express and sleeper trains will also start running. See below for a list of these services:

Northern Line Train Services


Thailand’s Northern Train Line runs from Bangkok to Chiang Mai via Ayutthaya, Phitsanulok and a number of other major stations along the way.

  • Train 7: Bangkok to Chiang Mai
    • Depart Bangkok: 08:30
    • Arrive Chiang Mai: 19:30
  • Train 9: Bangkok to Chiang Mai
    • Depart Bangkok: 18:10
    • Arrive Chiang Mai: 07:15
  • Train 8: Chiang Mai to Bangkok
    • Depart Chiang Mai: 08:50
    • Arrive Bangkok: 19:25
  • Train 10: Chiang Mai to Bangkok

Southern Line Train Services


Thailand’s Southern Train Line runs from Bangkok to destinations in the South via Hua Hin, Chumphon and Surat Thani. The final destination for each train varies between Sungai Kolok, Trang, Hat yai and Padang Besar depending on the train. All the train services listed below stop at Hua Hin, Chumphon and Surat Thani.

North Eastern Line Train Services


Thailand’s North Eastern Line runs from Bangkok to destinations to either Nong Khai on the border with Laos or Ubon Ratchathani. Trains on the Nong Khai branch of the line stop at Khon Kaen and Udon Thani on route. Trains on the Ubon Ratchathani branch stop at Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima and Buri Ram before reaching Ubon Ratchathani.
