1 May 2021: In response to an increase in the number of covid-19 cases in Thailand, and a decrease in the number of people travelling, the number of long distance train services has been reduced again along with a timetable change for trains to Chiang Mai. Trains are still operating on all major routes in Thailand just less of them.

Only 2 regular train services a day from Chiang Mai to Bangkok are now operating:
Southbound Southern Line Train Services
Only 3 long distance services travelling South from Bangkok are now operating. All travel via Hua Hin, Chumphon and Surat Thani.
