Don Mueang Airport Railway Station is located 22.21 km from Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station on both the Northern Line (to Chaing Mai) and North Eastern Line (the northern branch of the line terminates at Nong Khai on the border with Laos, and the eastern branch terminates at Ubon Ratchathani).

Travelling direct from Don Mueang Airport Railway Station saves a lot of time compared to going all the way to the main train station in Central Bangkok if you are planning to take a train to Chiang Mai or destinations in the North Eastern region of Thailand such the Laos border, Udon Thani and Pak Chong.
Don Mueang Airport Train Station
Don Mueang Airport Railway Station is a small and very ugly railway station because of its location in a narrow strip of land between a busy highway and a local road. The station is, however, a very busy train station with all trains travelling to or from the North or North East to or from Bangkok stop at Don Mueang Railway Station after departing from, or before arriving at, the main railway station in Bangkok.

Don Mueang Airport Railway Station has two platforms. All trains departing from Platform 1 are travelling towards Bangkok and all trains departing from Platform 2 are travelling North or North East from the station. There are total of 32 Bangkok bound trains a day stopping at the station, and a further 32 trains a day bound for the North or North east, making a total number of 64 trains passing through Don Mueang Airport Railway Station on any given day. Passengers travelling to destinations other than Bangkok are therefore advised to check the train number and destination carefully before they board a train to check that they are on the correct train.
Facilities at Don Mueang Airport Station
There are not many facilities at Don Mueang Airport Railway Station. There is an ATM machine near the ticket offices and toilets on Platform 1 and no other facilities. There are, however, some small Thai restaurants under cover on the roadside accessible from Platform 2.

For more facilities we advise you go to Don Mueang Airport itself which has plenty of shops and restaurants and even a hotel attached to it. The closest ‘international quality’ restaurant to the railway station is the The Bridge restaurant which is at the end of the walkway that joins Don Mueang Airport to the railway station.
Buying Tickets at the Station
Don Mueang Airport Railway Station has ticket windows in the main station building attached to Platform 1. There are 4 ticket windows although only 1 of these is normally ever open. You can purchase all types of ticket for train travel from Don Mueang Airport at this ticket office.

For sleeper seats, and seats on Thailand’s sprinter train services, we recommend that you book in advance as these types of seats often sell out before the day of travel, particularly in the tourist high season.

Getting to and from Don Mueang Airport Station
Don Mueang Airport Railway Station is accessible from Terminal 1 (International Departures) of Don Mueang Airport. Go to floor with check-in desks and follow the signs for the Railway Station and Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok hotel. You need to take a lift to the 1st floor and then follow the walkway which takes you to the railway station.

It is not very far from the airport to the railway station, however, the sign posting is not very clear. We therefore recommend that you ask for directions at the Information Desk by the check in counters in Terminal 1 to make sure that you are going in the correct direction.

For travel to other destinations than the airport there are meter taxis which wait on the roadside by Platform 1. In theory these taxis should be cheaper to use than the taxis which depart from the airport because they are not required to pay a fee for picking up from the airport. The difference with the meter taxis operating from the official airport taxi rank is that their services are monitored and passengers are given a card with the driver’s details in case that need to complain later.
