There are two branches to the Eastern train line offering passenger services: the Ban Plu Ta Luang line (via Pattaya city) and the Aranyaprathet line (to the border with Cambodia). There is a third branch to the Eastern train line running to the sea port and industrial estates at Marp Ta Put, but at the moment this line only carries freight.
At present there is a single passenger train per day on the Ban Plu Ta Luang train line, which a stop at Pattaya city on route. This service is Train #283 depart from Bangkok Hua Lamphong train station at 06.55 scheduled to arrive at Pattaya city at 10.34. This service is on an ordinary train and it is normally at least an hour quicker to travel by bus to Pattaya city from Bangkok.

There are two services a day to Aranyaprathet, on the Cambodia border, one departing from Bangkok at 05.55 and arriving at 11.35, the other departing at 13.05 and arriving at 17.35. Again these are slow services and if you are planning on travelling to destinations in Cambodia you are better off booking either a bus to Siem Reap or a bus to Phnom Penh.
