About Travel to Trang
For foreign visitors, Trang is a connection point for travel to the Southern Andaman Islands of Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Koh Mook, Koh Kradan and Koh Sukorn. However, it is well worth taking the time to explore Trang itself which is a popular destination for Thai tourists.

Trang has a rich history and some very well preserved buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th Century when Trang was a thriving centre for the then important tin mining industry. Tin mining brought immigrants from China, Malaysia and India. This large immigrant population turned Trang into a ‘cultural melting pot’ and in this respect Trang is quite unique and unlike anywhere else in Thailand. Amongst the highlights of Trang is the range of interesting food. Particular popular are the dim sum restaurants (the Chinese influence), biryani rice (the Indian influence) and ‘kopi’, which is Malaysian style coffee. The night market by Trang Train Station is somewhere to experience all three of these famous specialities of Trang in a single evening.
