Train Travel to Bangkok
There is some great scenery on route from Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok, particularly in the section of the North Eastern Line between Nakhon Ratchasima and Ayutthaya. You pass by a large lake, mountains, temples and a magnificent hillside Buddha visible only from the train.

In order to see this great scenery need to get up early and take Train #72 departing from Ubon Ratchathani at 05:40, or take the slow train, Train #136, departing at 07:00. All the other trains pass through the most scenic sections of the North Eastern Train line at night and you will see nothing. If you are travelling by train from Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok because you enjoy train travel then consider taking Train #72 or Train #136 and forgo comfort for the great views on route.
