Travelling North from Hua Hin the train stops at Cha Am, Phetchaburi and Ratchaburi before terminating at Bangkok.
Travelling South the train line goes through Prachuap Kiri Khan, Chumphon (to connect with the ferry to Koh Tao), Surat Thani and Hat Yai before terminating at Sungai Kolok. For travel on other railway lines in Thailand passengers need to first travel to Bangkok an change trains there.
Hua Hin to Surat Thani
Surat Thani is the nearest train station to the ferry ports of Donsak, where several different ferry services operate on the routes to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. If you arrive at Surat Thani train station after 16.00 you are unlikely to be able to catch one of the ferry services from Donsak, you will however still have time to catch one of the ‘night boats’ which leave from Surat Thani town centre to each of the three islands late in the evening and travel slowly overnight.

Hua Hin to Penang (Malaysia)
There is a single daily train service (Train #45) from Hua Hin to Padang Besar on the border between Thailand and Malaysia. From Padang Besar there are frequent connecting train services to Butterworth Railway Station (for Penang), and onto other destinations such as Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.
