Location of Ferry Pier in Koh Phangan
All joint ferry and bus services from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani Train Station depart from Thong Sala ferry pier, which is Koh Phangan’s main port on the South of the Island.
Option 1: Raja Ferry
The Raja Ferry service takes a total of 4 hours 45 minutes to reach Surat Thani Train Station after departing from Thong Sala ferry pier.
Ferry Journey Time
The journey starts with a 2 hour 30 minute journey on a car ferry.
Type of Ferry
The car ferry is large and the most stable of all the types of ferry which travel between Koh Phangan and the mainland. The Raja Ferry is the most reliable service when the weather is bad as it can still sail in all but the worst storms.

The car ferry, however, is not the most comfortable boat although it does have inside seating and a small shop selling drinks and snacks.
Bus to Surat Thani Train Station
On arrival at Donsak ferry port, the point of disembarkation on the Thai mainland, passengers transfer to a fairly old bus (with no bathroom) for the 1 hour 20 minute journey to downtown Surat Thani. From there passengers sometimes change buses again, and sometimes the same bus carries onto the train station after a wait approximately 10 minutes.
Option 2: Lomprayah Ferry
The Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Company is the quickest service between Koh Phangan and Surat Thani train station, taking only 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 00 minutes from the time it departs from Koh Phangan to the time it arrives at Surat Thani Train Station.
Ferry Journey Time
The Lomprayah ferries are the fastest ferries serving the islands of Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Koh Tao and they take 2 hour 30 minutes to reach the mainland from Koh Phangan, with a 10 minute stop on the way at Koh Samui to pick up more passengers. The sea crossing takes as long as the sea crossing on the slower Raja car ferry because the arrival point is much closer to Surat Thani city which means that the connecting bus service has much less far to travel.

Type of Ferry
The Lomprayah ferries are also the most comfortable with plenty of indoor seating, a small cafe and shop, and two sun decks which provide an opportunity for views across to the Ang Thong marine park.
Bus to Surat Thani Train Station
Once at the ferry pier on the mainland, passengers transfer to modern buses with on board toilets for the 30 minutes direct journey to Surat Thani Train Station before carrying onto Surat Thani Airport.
