There is an entrance to an MRT station near the side entrance to the main train station building. There are lots of mid-range hotels in both areas. Hotels in the Silom Road area tend to be better value for money than hotels near the Sukhumvit Road, although the range of restaurants and bars on the Sukhumvit Road is larger which is why many people are prepared to pay more to stay there.
For a good value for money hotel near Sukhumvit MRT Station we suggest that you book a room at the Manhattan Hotel which is one of Bangkok’s longest running tourist hotels. For very cheap accommodation considering trying the area around Khao San Road. During daylight hours you can travel from Bangkok Train Station to the Khao San Road area on a Chao Phraya Express Boat, although you need to walk around 15 minutes to get from the train station to the nearest river boat pier.
