About Nam Phong
The main attractions near Nam Phong are 40 km away around the Ubolratana Dam. The dam and the reservoir are both very scenic. You can sit by the reservoir at a restaurant near the dam, or hire a boat for a trip around the reservoir. There are several hotels and resorts, all great value for money, near the main entrance to the area where the dam is located. 1.2 km from the dam is the Ubolrat Golf Course. The Ubolrat Golf Course has 18 holes, a moderately challenging course, with cheap green fees and fantastic views of the reservoir.

Another attraction 1.3 km from the Dam is Wat Phra Bat Pan Kham, which is a temple with a large white Buddha statue on the hill above it. Its a walk of over 1 km up a lot of steps to view the Buddha statue, from where you enjoy fantastic views over the reservoir. The third major waterside attraction is the Nam Phong National Park. The most visited part of the park is the Hin Chang Si viewpoint from where you can see both the reservoir and the city of Khon Kaen. Its a 40 km drive from the Dam to access the Hin Chang Si viewpoint. The park is open from 06:00 to 18:00 and the entrance fee is 50 THB for Thai nationals and 100 THB for foreign visitors.
