Local Transport in Bangkok

When you arrive at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, which is the main train station in Bangkok, you have several options for onward travel. If you staying in the Silom Road area, or the Sukhumvit Road area, then we recommend that you use the MRT, which is Bangkok’s underground metro train station. There is an entrance to the MRT Station in the train station itself, on the right hand side as you leave the train platforms. You can also also connect with the BTS (overhead suburban train network) and the Airport Link to Suvarnabhumi International Airport from the MRT.

Travel by Taxi in Bangkok

If you are staying at one of the riverside locations, such as the Khao San Road area, then you need to take a taxi. There is an official meter taxi rank at the side of the station which is the only place you should get a taxi from Bangkok Train Station because the taxis which wait in other places around the station will try to overcharge you. Only use tuk-tuks from the train station if you are planning to take a very short journey because they are much more expensive than meter taxis and have no fixed prices.
