About Don Mueang Airport
Don Mueang International Airport, also known as Don Muang Airport, is Thailand’s second busiest airport. Don Mueang Airport was opened for commercial flights in 1924 and until the opening of Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2006 Don Mueang Airport was Thailand’s main international airport. Since Suvarnabhumi Airport was opened, after a brief closure, Don Mueang Airport has developed into Thailand’s largest hub for low cost flights with a wide range of domestic destinations and plenty of short to medium haul international destinations across Asia including India, China and Vietnam.
Don Mueang Airport currently has two terminals, one for domestic departures and another for the international departures. The two sets of check-in desks are easy walking distance from each other. The walkway and access lift from Don Muang Railway Station connects to the International Terminal into the area with the check-in desks. The airport has two runways, one 3,500 metres long and the other 3,700 metres, which are both long enough to accommodate the largest of commercial passenger planes currently in operation.
