Visiting Chumphon City
There are relatively few places of interest to visit in Chumphon City. One of those places of interest in the railway station which features several decommissioned steam engines and two rows of wooden railway staff houses. There are few of either the steam engines or the old fashioned railway staff houses to see elsewhere in Thailand.
Another point of interest in Chumphon City is the night market on the Krumluang Chumphon Road, which is a short walk away from Chumphon Train Station. The Krumluang Chumphon Road night market is a fantastic place to try the distinctive cuisine of Southern Thailand the way it is cooked locally. The food is often very spicy and very different to the food traditionally served in Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

Lots of holidaymakers pass through Chumphon on route Koh Tao, or for travel westward to Ranong and Koh Phayam. Chumphon City’s tourist infrastructure has expanded to meet this demand and has a range of hotels, restaurants and bars which cater specifically to leisure travellers.

In terms of Western food, and a place to meet other tourists in Chumphon, we recommend the restaurant at the Fame Tour & Service office on the Saladeng Road.
