About travel to Surat Thani
Surat Thani Railway Station is located about 16 km by road to the west of Surat Thani city. In the small town where the railway station is located there are a small number of shops and restaurants, and an even fewer number of hotels and guesthouses.
Travel into Surat Thani City
It’s fairly simple to travel from Surat Thani Railway Station to Surat Thani City. The cheapest way to travel is to take one of the small orange buses that depart from right out the main ticket hall and terminate around 45 minutes later in the centre of Surat Thani City. A more expensive option, and the only option if you arrive at night when local bus services have stopped running, is to take a taxi from Surat Thani Railway Station to Surat Thani City. The journey by taxi takes about 20 minutes and costs 160 THB one way if you go to the taxi rank near the entrance to the ticket hall where fixed prices are displayed on a large sign.

Unless your final destination is Surat Thani City itself, you often don’t need to travel into Surat Thani City in order to travel onward to your next destination.
