About Travel to Nakhon Ratchasima
The train journey from Don Mueang Airport to Nakhon Ratchasima is generally considered to feature some of best scenery visible from Thailand’s railway network and for this reason we recommend, if you have the choice, taking one of the day time trains. The particularly interesting part of the journey is from Saraburi to Pak Chong where the train passes through a mountainous area past the magnificent Wat Phrathat Charoentham, which features a striking hill top statue of the Lord Buddha, and the 13 km long Lumtakong Lake, before arriving into Nakhon Ratchasima.

Nakhon Ratchasima Railway Station is located about 2 km to the west of Suan Rak Park which is the focal point of Nakhon Ratchasima City Centre. Our recommended hotel, the inexpensive Siri Hotel, is on the way to Suan Rak Park and a manageable 950 metres walk from Nakhon Ratchasima Railway Station.
Suan Rak Park is popular with visitors because of its shrine to Lady Mo, a 19th Century historical figure who according to legend led an uprising of the local people against an occupying army from Laos. Also in the city centre, Wat Phra Narai Maharat is worth visiting to see the temple buildings set on man made island where Khmer era statues are on display. To the south of Nakhon Ratchasima City Centre is a large zoo, a fossil museum, Zoo Lagoon Water Park and an airplane park.
