The journey by train from Nakhon Ratchasima to Don Mueang Airport takes passengers past some fantastic scenery. The first part of the journey offers views of the distant hill of the Khao Yai National Park until the train manoeuvres around the edge of the picturesque 13 km long Lumtakong Lake. From there the railway line passes through the green and pleasant hills around Pak Chong, well known for their diary farms, before ascending into the hills separating Nakhon Ratchasima and Saraburi Provinces.

The route through the hills passes by the picturesque Pha Sadet Railway Station, which is one of Thailand’s prettiest train stations, and the hill top Buddha statue of Wat Phrathat Charoentham. It’s worth trying to do this journey in the day time so you can enjoy the scenery. At night you will see very little.
