Prachuap Khiri Khan is a pleasant seaside town located on the east coast of Thailand, slightly over 100 km by road to the south of Hua Hin.
Laid Back Destination
Prachuap Khiri Khan is a medium sized town by Thai standards, with around 30,000 permanent residents. It attracts a steady stream of visitors, most of whom are Thai tourists. Unlike Hua Hin to the north, Prachuap Khiri Khan doesn’t have any major tourist attractions, nor any internationally known hotel brands, or a beach in the town itself, and it tends not to feature on the travel itinerary of most foreign tourists. This, however, is part of Prachuap Khiri Khan’s appeal. The town has a very relaxed atmosphere and in most instances it offers great value for money.

One of the things Prachuap Khiri Khan is best known for is the wide range of seafood restaurants on the seafront Chai Talay Road right in the town centre. The Chai Talay Road is normally the busiest part of the town in the evening time and many people go there to eat. The eateries vary a lot in price and style. The cheapest restaurants, such as Lung Mug-Paa Lord, have outdoor seating clustered around food carts where the cooking is done.
Wat Thammikaram Worawihan
Wat Thammikaram Worawihan is a large temple located in the northern end of Prachuap Khiri Khan. The main attraction at Wat Thammikaram Worawihan is the small temple at the top of Khao Chong Krajok hill. To reach this temple visitors need to climb 418 steps, ascending 245 metres above sea level. Large numbers of wild monkeys live on Khao Chong Krajok hill, which is why this temple is also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’. The 360 degree views from the temple at the top of the hill are spectacular.
