About Travel to Prachuap Khiri Khan
Prachuap Khiri Khan is a very pleasant small coastal town with around 30,000 permanent residents. Unlike Hua Hin, which is just over 100 km by road to the North of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachuap Khiri Khan attracts a modest number of tourists most of whom are Thai holiday makers. Prachuap Khiri Khan has a relaxed atmosphere and very little in the way of nightlife.
Seafood in Prachuap Khiri Khan
The busiest part of the town is the Chai Talay Road which runs along the seafront in the centre of the town. The Chai Talay Road features lots of restaurants best known for serving seafood. These restaurants range from being a cluster of tables around mobile food carts, to more expensive restaurants with inside dining areas. Generally, however, the restaurants all represent very good value for money and this bounty of good and relatively cheap seafood is one of Prachuap Khiri Khan’s main attractions.

Attractions in Prachuap Khiri Khan
Prachuap Khiri Khan’s other two main attractions are Wat Thammikaram Worawihan and Ao Manao Beach.
- Wat Thammikaram Worawihan features a hill top temple, also known as the Monkey Temple. To reach the Monkey Temple visitors need to ascend 418 steps to reach the top of Khao Chong Krajok hill. On route visitors will encounter large numbers of macaque monkeys. The hill top temple itself is fairly run down, however, the views along the coastline are magnificent and well worth walking up lots of steps to see. We recommend an early morning or late afternoon visit to avoid the intense day time heat.
- Ao Manao Beach is located 4.4 km by road to the South of Prachuap Khiri Khan town centre within the grounds of a Thai Airforce base. Visitors are permitted to enter the base but they must present photo ID at the checkpoint on the approach road to the beach. As well as being a great beach, Ao Manao Beach is noteable for its inexpensive sunloungers available for rent, and the value for money food and drink vendors located on the edge of the beach. The beach is popular with Thai visitors who come to lie on the sunloungers and eat BBQ seafood.
