There are two parts to the journey with the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Company from Koh Samui to Chumphon Railway Station: sea crossing by ferry, and then transfer by bus from the ferry pier on the mainland to the train station in Chumphon City.
Ferry to the mainland
The journey by ferry from Koh Samui to the ferry pier in Chumphon Province takes from 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 00 minutes depending upon which of the two ferry services you take.
After departing from Koh Samui, the ferry travels via 3 islands, making stops at each on the way. The first island is Koh Phangan, the second island is Koh Nang Yuan and the third and final island stop on route is at Koh Tao. The ferry crossing from Koh Samui to Koh Tao takes from 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes.
At Koh Tao there is a 30 to 45 minute pause in the journey. The ferry then takes from 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes to travel from Koh Tao to the mainland.

Chumphon Railway Station is located 27 km by road from Tung Makham Noi Ferry Pier, and the journey from the pier to the train station takes around 35 minutes. The Lomprayah High Speed Ferry Company has fleet of large modern buses which depart from the car park at the rear of port to destinations across Thailand. The staff at the pier will direct you to the right bus for the train station if you show them your ticket.
