Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace

Phetchaburi’s second royal palace, the Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace, was never actually used a royal residence. Construction of the palace began during the reign of King Rama V, who died 6 years before the palace was completed in 1916.

Phra Ram Ratchaniwet Palace is open to visitors and it’s worth going to see. The main building is unusual in that it bears similarities to the architectural style of the palace of Kaiser Wilhelm in Germany. The interiors of the palace have been beautifully preserved and offer a rare insight into how the Thai royal family lived at the beginning of the 20th Century. The royal bedrooms are particularly noteworthy.
