About Travel to Sukhothai
Sukhothai Historical Park is, second to Ayutthaya Historical Park, one of the most popular archaeological sites in Thailand. Travelling by train you can easily combine a trip to Ayutthaya with a visit to Sukhothai. The Northern Railway Line does not extend all the way to Sukhothai but it does stop near to Sukhothai is the large town of Phitsanulok. From Phitsanulok very frequent local buses run all day every day to Sukhothai town from where can find local transport to the Historical Park and some good hotels to stay in.

The way to get from Phitsanulok Railway Station to Sukhothai is to first take a tuk-tuk for the 2 km journey to Phitsanulok Bus Station. Expect to pay around 60 THB for the tuk-tuk journey. At the bus station find the ticket counter which has a sign for Sukhothai and buy a ticket. The most frequent and quickest services are by minivan. By minivan you can complete the journey from Phitsanulok to Sukhothai in 1 hour for a cost of around 50 THB.
